6 Days
C-section is on Monday....only 6 more days. I am in constant pain now and am so uncomfortable. I am very weary and ready for this to be over. We are super excited to meet Natalie on Monday!!!! Pray for a smooth surgery and that there is no major complications that go along with it. And pray for a healthy baby girl!! I will post pics as soon as we have them!

The Big Day......
....My c-section is scheduled for June 15th!
I'm excited and nervous. It seems like it is just around the corner, and it really is, and I'm sorta feeling unprepared for it all. I can't wait to see our little girl, but wow---thinking about that being only 5 weeks away seems like there's hardly any time!
Now, just pray for me to not go into labor before that---the doctor says that that could be a pretty good possibility....but we don't want her to be that early cause she's not done cookin' in there!!

Bryan has a Masters degree!
Last weekend, Bryan graduated with his Masters degree! This isn't the "final" degree, as he'll keep going (23 more credits) for a Master of Divinity. The degree he got last weekend will allow him to get a pay raise with the school district, and when he's ready to get the Master of Divinity, he will turn in the degree he has now for that one. The Master of Divinity will allow him to pastor somewhere. Woo hoo! Here are some pictures from the celebration. I am so proud of him!!

O, the trials
My pregnancy, although it has been an amazing experience of growing a child within me, and feeling the joys of that, has been extremely physically challenging.
Last night I was released from the hospital after being in there Tuesday night and all day Wednesday and into the evening. I have never had to stay overnight at the hospital so this was quite an experience.
On Sunday I was having severe abdominal pain all day and that night, I went to the bathroom and without too many details, found blood. Bryan and I were of course really concerned, so we rushed into the ER and were told that I probably had a kidney stone. They sent me on my way and on Tuesday night I began feeling excruciating pain, which was when we rushed into the ER again. This time the pain was the worst I have ever experienced in my life. Like ever. They gave me morphine, which didn't help, then another shot of morphine, which didn't really help. Then the morphine began affecting my stomach, and I started throwing up.
Around 3am, Bryan left to go get a few hours of sleep and go to work the next morning and my mom came and stayed with me in the hospital room from early Wednesday morning and into the evening.
(P.S. My mom ROCKS.)
Come to find out, after having 2 ultrasounds, they found that I had an enlarged kidney, filled with fluid. Sometimes this can be a common thing in pregnancy, as the ureter, which is an artery that travels from underneath the uterus to the kidney, can become pinched/clogged due to the growth of the uterus in pregnancy. And since my fibroid is in there too, that could have caused some extra pressure.
So, all day yesterday, with an AMAZING team of nurses, I was kept highly medicated to try to manage the pain I was experiencing. Finally, after not sleeping for almost 40 hours, around 6pm I started to feel more like myself and at 11pm they let me go home.
I am home recovering now, thanking God that he began taking away some of this pain. I feel pretty good today, and haven't taken any pain pills! I am hoping not too, as my poor baby got drugged up pretty good yesterday. :(
Alas, this pregnancy has thrown me something constantly, it seems. I am thankful for this experience that God has given me though to trust in Him and to be thankful for this baby he has given Bryan and I.
Only 9 more weeks to go.

Run away shopping carts

Today I went to Petsmart to get some dog food and after hauling that load into the car (which I shouldn't have done, but I didn't want to ask for help at the counter), I was lazy and just left my cart next to the car.
I got in the car and noticed the cart was starting to roll far far away. I looked back and there was a car waiting for my spot....
I strapped on my seatbelt and gunned it. While I was hauling ass away from the run away cart that I let happen, I yelled I DON'T CARE!
I don't know why I feel compelled to share this, but I think part of me felt so good for living on the wild side a bit.
I'm lame, but this run away shopping cart gave me much freedom today.

20 weeks
This last week has proven to be quite a challenge. In order to keep my job, we had to take paycuts....so that means things will be tight for the next few months. I am so so so thankful to still have my job though.
Also, the doctor discovered a large fibroid in my uterus that is growing rapidly and competing with space in my womb with the baby. There are a lot of other details to go along with this news, but basically, my delivery is going to be very tricky and will most likely include a C-section and possible premature baby. I have been in a lot of pain for the last 2 weeks with no idea WHY, so I was thankful that they found out what is going on. God is faithful, and we are trusting that he shrinks this dumb fibroid so it doesn't interfere with Natalie's growth and that she can be delivered full term as a healthy, strong girl!

18 weeks!
18 weeks now! I felt the first official kick last night while we were watching TV! It was awesome! I was just sitting there and all of a sudden felt a little kick and said "Oh my gosh! Bryan! I just felt a kick!" :) Today the baby has been more active than it's ever been--I felt it almost the whole day at work!!
Only a few more days till our ultrasound! Then we can see the little guy or girl and will hopefully get some ultrasound pics to post!!
Amazing!

17 Weeks
Only 10 days till we find out if we have a Mr. or Ms. Baby Strickland! Lots of guesses are pouring in and most people think it's a girl. I have had a few dreams so far but they have not given me any "feeling" either way. Right now, I'm sort of leaning toward it being a boy.
Names we have chosen:
Boy= William Harrison
Girl= Natalie Claire
And btw, my belly is growing at a RAPID pace.

I'm taking guesses now
So, with only 2 weeks till we find out the sex of the child growing inside of me, I thought it would be fun for people to make their own guesses on what I am having!
I will not have any fancy prizes for those of you who guess correctly, but heck, go for it anyway!
Make your guesses here! What do you have to lose? You've got a 50-50 chance!
